Have you ever noticed that...

lately we have been arguing a lot about what we like and the choices we made. Jennifer has been analyzing my every word because I don't like Harry Potter without reading the incredibly long 6 book series or seen any of the movies. People don't think Sarah would be a good breakdancer (I wasn't saying you couldn't be a good break dancer I was just amazed that you want to learn how). Everyone's mad at tom because of chops (Its Toms face not anyone elses). Kenric is mad at me because I don't like the Wizard of Oz. Sarah and Jennifer are fighting over what they think American culture is and whether or not you should be cultured (People over time make their own culture by doing the things they like and what they think is good. People don't need to embrace a certain culture because they just should. We may never have a new culture if people didn't make their own.) People have their own opinions and we need to understand that. These things don't matter to much and so there's no need to go crazy about it. Now a lot of things have been going on lately in our society that have beeen saying that everyone can do whatever they want because they are free. Ex. Gays and Lesbians, abortion, the "right" to die movement. What's not being realized is that sometimes humans can be wrong. In our situation it's a little different though it's not wrong to have chops. It doesn't kill people to not like Wizard of Oz or Harry Potter.

Sarah made a good point....

"i seem like me and me can do anything it wants"

this is a very good point, just as long as people remember that sometimes there is a right choice and wrong one.

  • I think that it partly has to do with some feelings of inferiority amoung our group...
For example...kenric kept telling me not to post about chesterton...of course i had to justify my liking of chestertons writings and in the process kenric and rachael got the idea that i was dissing the books that they liked...I on the other hand was pretty annoyed and insulted that they thought they had the right to inform me that i was sheltered...so retaliated by letting them think i was dissing their books...and to them their intelligence. i didn't actually think that..but you get the picture...home schooling is one thing i do not want to be teased about...i had told kenric that more than once and he ignored it....which made me angry...there are some places you can't go...and you need to shut up about it.
There is this idea in our group that everything is objective...everything is not objective...harry potter, chesterton, chrighton, waugh, LOTR, jewel, rufus, u2, coldplay, whatever...you get the point...i'm sick of the attitude that we all have of judging and looking down on people because of our own likes and dis likes...and about tom's beard...he did ask our opinion...so that is more acceptible.

  • Adam, you have great posts, man.

And to add to it, I am not the person that started the arguments or in them, unless you really want to say the beard thing an argument. It is like you guys are being more like me, like to argue, (Sarah, you are not included, you still will argue and enjoy it.)
