He is Risen
Has anyone ever noticed how at the end of John's gospel he writes that Mary Magdalene was not aloud touch him, but 8 days later he tells Thomas to touch his wounds. Many people don't understand this. He tells Mary she can't touch Him because He has not yet ascended to the Father. Jesus is lamb sacrifice that takes away our sins. For Jews a holocaust would take place and the priests were the ones who would handle the lamb that was being sacrificed. The smoke from the animal would ascend up. Then, the priests would know that God has accepted the offering and forgiven their sins. So you might already see where this is going. Jesus only aloud a priest, Thomas, to touch him. Mary could not touch Jesus because she was not a priest. Some people might recall the accusation made that Mary was suppose to be the first pope. John's gospel is dated to the 1st century. That doesn't make any sense at all. A woman on the show brought up how this relates to the whole idea of women being priests and it does relate to that. God told his apostles (this could have a broader meaning, but this does apply to vocations and i am pretty sure that he was with just the apostles when he said this) you didn't choose me, I chose you. People say that it's descimination not to allow women to become priests. They tend to think that if a woman wants to be a priest she should be able to, but it's not the person that chooses such a thing, God chooses it. God chose James and John to follow him and they just said yes. Not the other way around like in the case of female priests. I saw this on EWTN and a professor from St. John Vianney Seminary was on it and explained it.
