I got's a ?

How do I change the template so there isn't any spaces between blog links and so there isn't a ginormously wide sidebar?

  • Ok, here's what you do. Go to where you choose the templates/edit the HTML for your blog. In the HTML editor, go to the line that begins "div#mainClm". This is an embedded style-sheet that alters the appearance of "div#mainClm", which is the main column. On this line, all you have to do is change width from 66 percent to whatever you want. I think that 75 or 77 percent works pretty good. It will end up looking like this "div#mainClm{float:right;width:77%;padding:30px 7% 10px 3%;border-left:dotted 1px #E0AD12;}". I tested it in firefox and ie and it appears ok in both. The problem is that since they are different browsers, the page is rendered differently, so the sidebar appears wider in ie than in firefox. About the spacing between the blogs, there is extra lines in the list after each blog link. Just delete the extra <li> and </li> after each link. If you don't know what im talking about, ask ben and he might be able to show you. Then save the template and thats it.

  • Sarah, you are making me mad. What the crap are you talking about. He didn't take my advice whatsoever. He was complaining about a wide sidebar and I told him how to fix it, and then I told him it wasn't fixed so I'm being over particular somehow? Did you notice that he says "and so there isn't a ginormously wide sidebar" meaning, he is complaining about the sidebar being too wide, and he says "it's better now" but the code is no different as far as i can see. What is he talking about? What are you talking about?

  • alright, ok.... i tried to change it, but it didn't look much different and i just figured y bother change it anymore if it looks bad only in Internet Explorer. In mozilla firefox it's fine so i decided to just use firefox and forget about messing around with anything. I am fine with now that i saw what it looks like in firefox. Now do you understand? The reason why I chose this blog is because everyone else has blogs the look good but I don't want to copy those blogs and so this was probably the best one left. Ya see?
